Hi, my name is Kim. My husband John and I started the China adoption process in December of 2004, which is when we had this family picture taken. Our daughter who was almost eight at the time is now eleven. Wow! Time really flies.

What can I say, we're a strange, fun, kookie kind of family. We love to cook, play games, watch movies, camp, tell jokes and just plain hang out.

John and I have been married 20 years. We were just babies when we got married. I was 19 and John was 22. I think our families had some reservations about us getting married so early, but I was sure it would work out and it did.

John spends three to five months of the year in Asia; Korea, Japan and Taiwan. He has always traveled with his job, so I've gotten used to it. Even though he is out of town a lot, he makes the best of the time we're together. He is kind, caring and funny. He is a great husband and father. I couldn't imagine my life without him.

I have been a gymnastics instructor for the past seven years with our local YMCA. I currently coach the team, which my daughter is a member of. I love coaching the kids and seeing their excitement as they progress. I was previously an accountant and also co-owned a small craft business. Of all the jobs that I've had, being a mother has been the most fulfilling one. At times is has been frustrating and overwhelming, but the joy of seeing my child turn into a wonderful, kind, self-assured young lady makes it all worth it. There aren't words to tell her how proud I am of her and how special I think she is.

As you can tell, I think that my daughter, Gabby, is a great kid. She is a good student and loves school. She's in the fifth grade and I wonder what sixth grade and a new school with new pressures might bring. Hopefully the transistion won't be too hard. Her love is gymnastics. I started coaching at the YMCA when Gabby was four. She didn't start to take any official classes until she as six, but because she was hanging around the gym with me she improved quickly and joined the team when she was seven. At one point she took some time off, but after only a month decided to go back. She said that she just missed it too much. She definitely knows what she wants.

Our pets are an important part of our family. Daisy, our pomeranian, is the bully of the house. She thinks that she is in charge...most of the time. She sits on the cats as long as they'll allow it. Scooter is Daisy's best friend. Who said that cats and dogs can't get along. Scooter will roll over and invite Daisy to pounce on him. Sassy is a little bit nervous, but a wonderful leg warmer at night.

We live in a very small city. We are big enough to have a YMCA, a Walmart and a movie theater, but small enough to always know someone when you go to the store. All of us love that about our area. I hope that Junie will love that as well.
